On the “Enter password” page, enter the network’s Wi-Fi password and tap the “show characters” icon to confirm it is correct, then tap Continue.

5. Set up Sensing

Please do not plug the WiFi Motion plugs into outlets until prompted in the app set-up. Deciding where to place the plugs prior to set-up can be helpful.

Note: One plug must be placed in or near the primary bedroom for sleep monitoring. The remaining three plugs should be placed in areas with frequent activity such as the kitchen, living room, and primary bathroom.

Plug Placement Tips:

  • Avoid placing plugs behind large objects like appliances or furniture.
  • Ensure plugs are spaced evenly, generally no more than two rooms apart, and avoid placing them directly above or below each other on different floors.
  • For homes with shared walls, avoid placing plugs along those walls to prevent interference.
  • Plugs work best 3 to 5 feet above the floor, away from ceilings and corners.
  • For the bedroom, place the plug closer to the door, away from the bed, to minimize detection of small movements.

During sensing set-up the app will prompt you to complete the following steps:

1. On the Sensing Setup page, tap the Primary Bedroom button.

2. At the Add Plug to Room page, plug in the desired device in the room. Ensure the plug has a solid red light showing on the front and tap Next.

  • If the red light is not solid, press and hold the side button on the plug for 5 seconds until the light flashes and then stays solid. Once the light is solid red, proceed with the setup.

The app will display Searching for plug. You can alternately tap Use QR code to scan the plug.

3. The page will auto-advance when a plug is found using Bluetooth.

  • If there’s an issue, the Device could not be found page will appear, with options to Try again or Use QR code.
  • If multiple plugs are detected, the Multiple devices found page will appear with the same options. Tap Try again once only one plug is connected and ready. Alternatively, tap Use QR code to open the Scan Plug page, and position the plug’s QR code in the camera frame. The app will auto-advance once the plug is successfully detected and connected.

4. The Connecting Plug page will show the plug’s provisioning progress.

5. Once completed, the page will update to Plug successfully connected. Tap Continue.

6. The Sensing Setup page will update to show 1/4 plugs connected, with the configured room showing a green checkmark.

7. Select the next desired room and repeat the Add Plug to Room steps. When each plug is provisioned, the Sensing Setup page will update to show 2/4 plugs connected, with two rooms marked with green checkmarks.

8. Continue provisioning the 3rd and 4th plugs by repeating the steps. Once all four plugs are connected, the Sensing Setup page will show 4/4 plugs connected, with all rooms marked with green checkmarks.

9. Tap Complete. The app will display the final status page for the Sensing Setup.

You can either wait for all rooms to finish setup and confirm their communication, or you can tap Finish as soon as it becomes enabled.

This completes the out-of-box setup, and the app will advance to the Summary tab, with a prompt to Set Up Sleep and Activity.

6. Set up Sleep and Activity

On the Summary home page, tap the ‘Set up Sleep and Activity’ button. You’ll be asked to enter the household’s average bedtime and waketime so that Caregiver Aware can accurately monitor sleep. Ensure the times provided reflect the household’s typical routine for going to bed and waking up.

7. Set up Caregiver Alerts

Finally, set up alerts to notify you of important events based on activity in the home. We recommend starting with a Rise and Shine schedule to receive notifications when your loved one is up and active in the morning.

Features and Benefits

Your Summary Page

Your Caregiver Aware summary provides an overview of the Live Motion activity occurring in your loved one’s home. Each day, the Summary page will display the total sleep duration from the previous night as well as the activity that has occurred so far. The Summary page will continue to update throughout the day as the total amount of household activity increases.

Live Motion

Live Motion provides a real-time, visual representation of motion happening in the home. You can view the intensity and location of activity by navigating to the Live Motion section at the bottom of the Summary page. While Live Motion offers a live view, it does not store Live Motion data—however, motion trends are stored separately for activity insights.

Activity Insights

The Activity Insights feature tracks the amount of movement occurring in the household each day, allowing you to learn about activity patterns through Day and Week visualizations. The Day chart displays an hourly breakdown of activity for a single day, whereas the Week chart displays a daily breakdown of activity for the last 7 days.

Sleep Insights

The Sleep Insights feature tracks nighttime activity to generate sleep data, allowing you to learn about total sleep duration and sleep schedule patterns through Night and Week visualizations. The Night chart displays an hourly breakdown of a single night’s sleep, whereas the Week chart displays a nightly breakdown of sleep for the last 7 nights.

Caregiver Alerts

Create and manage customized alerts to keep track of important daily patterns and routines. There are three types of alerts you can enable:

  1. Rise and Shine Alert: Get immediate peace of mind each morning by knowing that the household is up and active. Caregivers can set a specific “rise” time, and you’ll be prompted to check in if no morning activity is detected by that time.
  2. Inactivity Alert: Get notified if there are extended periods without movement in the household during the day. Caregivers can set a specific threshold, such as receiving a notification if no movement is detected for a chosen period, like 3 hours.
  3. Outings Alert: Get notified if motion is detected in the house during designated outings, such as regular appointments. Caregivers can set specific times and days for these outings, allowing for recurring alerts to help manage daily routines.

Motion Sensitivity

To ensure you are getting the most relevant notifications, you can adjust Motion Sensitivity to control how much movement is needed to trigger detection. Higher sensitivity picks up smaller movements, while lower sensitivity focuses on bigger ones.

  1. High Sensitivity: Reports motion of any size. Recommended for most detached/single-family dwellings.
  2. Medium Sensitivity: Reports moderate or greater motion. Ideal for homes with shared walls.
  3. Low Sensitivity: Reports only large or intense motion. We recommend using this setting if medium sensitivity reports too much motion, though it may result in missed meaningful motion.
